This page is provided to highlight changes that have occurred for the 2010 Maricopa County Fair. This is not intended to be a complete list of changes. All exhibitors should read and understand all general and specific rules prior to entering an exhibit in the fair. Additional changes may be made at a future date.

IMPORTANT: Animal Entries submitted by mail will no longer be accepted. All animal entries must be completed online or in person.

Please note this update and changes for 2010:
Fair time will be here before you know it! The 2010 Maricopa County Fair will be April 14-18. Our theme this year is “We Grow FUN!” and we're hopeful you plan on helping us have a "Full Crop"

For the 2010 Maricopa County Fair there are several important changes that will affect Livestock/Small Stock exhibitors and shows. We have had some major changes in the Market Beef Department. If you are planning on showing Market Beef or know someone who is , please take note of the new entry deadline and ear tagging requirements. Please read the changes included here and contact your superintendent or the fair office if you need additional information.

General Rule Changes:

Exhibitor must show their own animal unless the exhibitor has more than one entered (the old rule stated “more than one animal in the same division/class”)

Market Steer Changes:

All market steers are required to be ear tagged for the 2010 County Fair. Ear tagging and entry deadline for market steers will be November 14, 2009. We will be ear tagging steers on the 14th from 9am until noon. Tentatively, the ear tagging will take place on the AZ State Fairgrounds.

Swine Department Changes:

1.    Each animal must be identified by exhibitor, parent, leader or advisor.

2.    Identification of owner and animal is final.

3.    Bring breed registration papers to weigh-in.

4.    At weigh-in all pigs must be groomed so that all breed characteristics are visible. Superintendents and/or classifiers have the right to request animal be washed before it is classified.

5.    Entries must show individual identification using an ear notch that conforms to the universal ear notch system plus the premise id number using a tattoo or tamper proof ear tag that conforms to USDA. Animals will not be allowed into the scale area without a premise tag in its ear.

6.    All exhibitors must have in their possession an Arizona State Certificate of Swine Inspection for each pig. To arrange for a certificate, contact the Department of Agriculture.

Round Robin Changes:

Round Robin competition will be held on Sunday.

Pygmy Goat Department Changes:

1.      Eliminate the Open Pygmy Goat Show

2.      Add youth pygmy goat doe project division (goats will be eligible to sell).

 Poultry Department Changes:

Add Poultry breeds, including meat class.

Small Stock Auction:

            White ribbons will not sell.

Each small stock exhibitor will be allowed to sell up to 2 small stock animals.

Small Stock Shows:

Rabbits, cavies and poultry shows will be on Wednesday. Poultry 1pm, Rabbits 4pm, and Cavies at 6:30pm. Times to rotate each year by department.
